setting the stage
Hi there! I’ve never been great at introductions, so I’ll skip the pleasantries. Hopefully you know a bit about us by now - rather than risk becoming a broken record, I encourage you to go read “about us” at your leisure. I thought instead, that I’d kick things off by setting the stage and sharing my intentions so you know what to expect from our blog space.
Just like life is fluid, so may be our intentions with this blog. So bear with us as they may evolve as this space wiggles into finding its true purpose. In the same breath, my first intention is to not let perfectionism impede on progress. Truth be told, perfectionism is one of my lifelong lessons - she’s a work in progress. As a part of shedding my deep impulse to keep the imperfect to myself until it’s polished and ready to send out into the world, I promise transparency into our journey (hopefully) without oversharing. We have and will continue to make mistakes in our journey. I ask for your grace when they occur and hope we can laugh along the way. What I’m really saying is that the true first intention is to keep it real.
When I say keep it real, I mean sharing the good, bad, confusing as all get out, and ugly. This leads me to my second intention: share lessons we’ve learned. For real though, we’re novices at many things we dive into. A lot of our time is spent learning and trying new things so we would love to share our lessons learned along the way. When we share about these lessons (some of which I imagine won’t be easy to share), we do so with humility and the understanding that we are not pros. We acknowledge we won’t always get it right, nor is the way we did something the right or only way. We share because we can and because it helps us look at life from the beginner’s mind.
My third intention, a very important one, is to share ethically about the places and cultures we encounter through our travels. Travel and exploration are a huge part of what we do - not to mention probably some of the more exciting updates we get to share. We will not let that excitement compromise our integrity. We approach travel with the understanding that we are visitors to many of the places we will end up and that in each of those beautiful places, there were or are nature and humans there before us. Our hope is to support local, lift those up who are doing good in this world, and to share about those who inspire us.
Lastly, I intend to have fun with this whole blog thing! While I’m nervous to put myself out there, I’m excited to find my creative voice again in doing so. Let us know what types of things you want to hear more about - not only does it help us shape what type of information to blab on about, it also forces us to look at daily life from a different perspective. Looking forward to oversharing again real soon!
